Born in 1974, Mia Segaert has been pursuing her art career for 2.5 years, following a transition from a 25-year career in Real estate and Finance. Although passionate about photography since childhood, her artistic journey took a more structured path when she studied art photography at the Academy for Visual Arts in Brasschaat (Belgium). Over time, she has built a strong artistic identity, exhibited her work internationally.

Her photographic work explores three themes: Altitude. Earth. Ocean, drawing inspiration from both organic forms and architectural aesthetics. Her artistic research focuses on how natural landscapes can be reinterpreted through light, composition and abstraction. She studies how natural elements change over time. This research helps to frame her images in a way that goes beyond mere documentation, transforming them into conceptual and surreal visual narratives.

Each of her works carries a sense of serenity, mystery, and timelessness, inviting the viewer to engage with nature beyond what is immediately visible.

She won already many awards in international competitions. Yet the most striking ones are the State of the World 2023 Curatorial selection with Glacier Azur from Px3 Paris Photo Prize, Gold winner 2024 with Ethereal Bodies and Gold winner 2025 with White Powder  from Muse Photography Awards. At XV Florence Biennale she won “Lorenzo iL Magnifico Award” First Prize Photography.

A quote that resonates with her photography is this one by Henri Cartier-Bresson “It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera ... they are made with the eye, heart and head.
